About
I live in Espoo and work in an office that has nothing to do with the outdoors. Most weekends I take a train or a bus to somewhere with trees and walk until it gets dark. This site is where I keep notes from those walks so that I can find them again: which lean-to had dry wood, which bus stop was cancelled in winter, which lens I wished I had brought.
The name comes from the Finnish word for tree bark. It seemed right for something that grows slowly and mostly goes unnoticed.
I don't run ads here and I don't accept free gear. If something is mentioned on the gear page, I bought it and used it for at least one season.
Photographs on this site may not be reused without asking. If you want to use one for something non-commercial, the answer is usually yes.
